ASCII Table

A complete ASCII table, printable characters 32–126 with their decimal and hex codes, plus the control characters 0–31 and 127 with their standard abbreviations.

ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) maps characters to numbers 0–127. Codes 0–31 and 127 are non-printing control characters; 32–126 are the printable letters, digits, and symbols. UTF-8 is a superset, so these values are identical there.

Handy anchors: A = 65, a = 97 (32 apart, so flip case by toggling bit 5), 0 = 48, and space = 32. The digits 0–9 run consecutively from 48 to 57.

What this does

An ASCII table lists the printable characters 32–126 with their decimal and hex codes, plus the control characters 0–31 and 127.

How to use it

  1. Find a character or code.
  2. Read its decimal and hex value.
  3. Copy the value with one tap.
  4. Use it in code or data.

Example

Capital A is decimal 65, hex 0x41.

Frequently asked questions

What is ASCII?

ASCII maps characters to the numbers 0–127. Codes 0–31 and 127 are non-printing control characters; 32–126 are the printable letters, digits, and symbols.

Is ASCII the same as Unicode?

The first 128 Unicode code points are identical to ASCII, and UTF-8 encodes them as single bytes, so ASCII values are a subset of Unicode.

How do I convert between upper and lower case?

Uppercase A is 65 and lowercase a is 97, exactly 32 apart. Toggling bit 5 (adding or subtracting 32) flips the case of a letter.
